The Insiduous Humdrum The antagonist of the story wants nothing but to get rid of Simon Snow. She also figures out a way to sneak into the boy’s dormitories, but she keeps her methods a secret from everyone, much to Simon and Baz’s dismay. She’s intelligent and gutsy, and along with Simon, she is willing to do whatever she has to in order to stop the Humdrum. Penelope Penelope is the Hermione of Carry On. I felt like a lot of her decisions were justified because she just wanted the best for Simon, but it put her in danger sometimes. However, I feel like that was done on purpose, so it wasn’t a problem for me. The end had me wondering if there was any truth behind his character in the beginning of the novel.Īgatha Okay, I would be lying if I said Agatha didn’t annoy me part of the time. By the end, he seemed kind of like the mad person who doesn’t think about his or her actions. His goal was to fix the mistake he made and he did whatever he had to do to reach that goal. I was incredible surprised by his actions, but some of them were justified, I think. However, we find out by the end of the novel, that we don’t know him at all. The Mage Reading the novel, I thought we knew the Mage pretty well. I honestly didn’t expect the plot twist that was revealed in these chapters at the end of the story. The chapters were short and ambiguous towards the end. Lucy I loved the mystery surrounding this storyline.

It takes place during Simon, Baz, Agatha, and Penelope’s eighth year at Watford, a school for magic. Maybe Rainbow should write Fantasy more often? It was an excellent book to start out the year with. This novel was everything I hoped for in a Rainbow Rowell book. What can I say about Carry On, other than it was FREAKING AMAZING?!? I can honestly see this book making it to the top three on my Best Books of 2016 at the end of the year.
